The Wordless Book
What is the story of the book without words?
Have you ever seen a book without words or pictures?
This special book is called the Wordless Book. It has no words or pictures, but the colored pages tell a wonderful, true story from God’s Word, the Bible. Each color tells us part of the story. Would you like to hear it?
Besides not having any words or pictures, something else different about the Wordless Book is that the story starts on the last page. Let’s look at the last page of the Wordless Book first. It tells us about a very amazing place.
Gold Page
What color is this? Right! Gold. What does gold remind you of? Maybe gold makes you think of jewelry or treasure or coins. But the gold page of the Wordless Book reminds me of a special place called Heaven. Heaven is a beautiful city made of gold. Even the street in Heaven is made of gold. I can only imagine how beautiful Heaven is!
Not only is Heaven a beautiful place, but it is also a perfect place. Everything about Heaven is perfect. That’s because Heaven is God’s home. The true and living God lives in Heaven.
Who is God? God is the Creator. He’s the One who made the whole world and everything in it. He made the sky and the clouds. He made the planets and the stars. He made the oceans and the land. He made all the fish and the birds. God also made people — He made you and me!
Jesus, God the Son, also lives in Heaven. In God’s Word, the Bible, Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions . . . .” (John 14:2). Mansions are homes. Jesus is in Heaven now preparing homes for those who will receive Him as their Saviour.
You see, God and Jesus love you. They want you to be able to live with them in beautiful, perfect Heaven someday when your life here on earth is over.
But there is one thing that can never be in Heaven. The next page in the Wordless Book tells us about it.
Dark Page
This page is the dark page. It reminds me of sin.
Sin is anything that is not right in God’s sight. God tells us in the Bible, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). That means that all people sin. You sin. I sin. Everyone sins. Only God is perfect. He never sinned. We can never measure up to how perfect God is.
When I was a child, I remember getting angry and hitting my sister. I remember cheating on a quiz at school. I remember disobeying my parents. Can you think of something you have done that was wrong, something God would call sin?
Sin is very serious to God. God says sin must be punished. That means, because of your sin, you cannot go to live in Heaven with God because sin would spoil His perfect home. You will be separated from God forever.
But God has made a way so that you don’t have to be separated from Him. The next page of the Wordless Book tells us about it.
Red Page
What color is this page? That’s right. It’s red. What does red remind you of?
Red reminds me of Jesus and what Jesus did for you and me. Jesus left Heaven where He had lived with God. He was born as a baby here on earth. He lived here on earth for 33 years, but He was different from anyone else. He was perfect. He lived a perfect life. Because Jesus was still God the Son, He never sinned.
Maybe you are wondering why Jesus left Heaven to come here to earth. He came to die on a wooden cross to take the punishment for all of our sins. Jesus paid for our sin with His own precious blood. The Bible says, “…The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7). Jesus’ blood is the only thing that can make us clean (forgiven) from our sin.
After Jesus died, His body was buried in a tomb, but He didn’t stay dead. Three days later, He came alive again. Forty days later He went back to Heaven and He’s still living there today.
Jesus did all this so you can be forgiven of your sins.
White Page
This is the clean page. It reminds me of clean things. It reminds me why Jesus died . . . so you can be made clean on the inside (forgiven) of your sin.
The Bible says, “For God so loved the world (that’s you and me with all our sin), that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (If you place your trust in Jesus as your Saviour, your sins will be forgiven and you will no longer be separated from God so someday you will live forever with God in Heaven.) (John 3:16).
Can you think of a time in your life when you trusted Jesus to be your Saviour and forgive your sin?
To trust in Jesus as Saviour you must understand three important things:
1. (Dark page)
You must admit that you have sinned and that you deserve to be punished for your sin.
2. (Red Page)
You must believe that Jesus died on the cross and gave His blood to take the punishment for your sin and that He came alive again.
3. (Clean page)
You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart to be your Saviour.
Would you like to receive Jesus as your Saviour now?
Here’s how:
-Bow your head and pray.
-You can begin by saying “Dear God.”
-Remember to tell Him the three important things,
1) I have sinned; please forgive me
2) I believe Jesus died for me and came alive again
3) I receive Jesus as my Saviour
When you’re finished, say, “In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Trusting in Jesus as your Saviour is just the beginning of a brand new life. The next page of the Wordless Book tells us about it.
Green Page
What color is this page? What does the color green remind you of? Flowers? Grass? Things that grow?
The green page of the Wordless Book reminds me that when you receive Jesus as your Saviour, God wants you to grow. That means He wants you to know Him better and to become more like Him.
The Bible says, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ….” (2 Peter 3:18).
If you have trusted Jesus as your Saviour, He has given you eternal life so you can live in Heaven with Him when your life on earth is over. He also promises never you leave you. Jesus’ own words in the Bible say, “…I will never leave thee (you)…” (Hebrews 13:5). He also promises to forgive you when you tell Him you did wrong. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us…” (1 John 1:9).
The word GROW will help you remember other ways to know Jesus better:
Go to Sunday School, church, Good News Club (Somewhere you can learn more about Jesus)
Read your Bible and pray (Do this every day!)
Obey God’s Word
Witness to others (Tell them about Jesus!)
If you have just asked Jesus to be your Saviour, we want to know about it. Please ask your parents for permission to contact us. You will find our contact information on the Connect tab at the top of your screen.
